GENERAL INFORMATION
A major credit card or check card with a VISA or MASTERCARD logo is required to rent with us. All instruments have a three month minimum rental period. The first month's rent and a deposit (equal to two months' rental) are due at signing. If you cancel your rental before the 3-month minimum, you will be charged for the remaining amount due. If you do not have a major credit card, a card-owning cosigner can sign for the rental. Make sure your cosigner comes to the store in person, and is aware that he or she will be fully responsible in the event that you are unable to make rental payments. All of our rentals are Rent To Own. At any time during your rental, you may choose to buy the instrument rented. 60% of the rent you've paid (on time) along with 100% of your deposit will be applied as credit towards the purchase price

HOW DO I PAY AFTER THE FIRST MONTH?
You will receive a coupon book by mail. You may mail in your payments every month, or pay in person, if you prefer. WE DO NOT SEND YOU A BILL, SO IT IS UP TO YOU TO MAKE THE PAYMENTS.

WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THE INSTRUMENT?
Concerned about your rental instrument being damaged or stolen? For an additional monthly fee, our optional Repair and Replacement Policy covers everything outside of willful abuse and neglect. If you're not covered by our R&R policy, you may be charged for any repairs outside of normal wear & tear. The Starving Musician Repair Shop handles everything from minor adjustments to complete overhauls. Minor adjustments on your rental instruments can often be made while you wait. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE INSTRUMENT. THIS WILL VOID YOUR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT COVERAGE.

DO I NEED TO BUY ANY ACCESSORIES?
Most teachers highly recommend that every student have a music stand. They start at $14.99 and up. Violins will require a shoulder rest for $9.99 and up. Other than that, all rentals include the basics you need to start playing your instrument.

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES:
Maintenance Kits are available, and have everything you need to keep the instrument clean and lubricated. Extra REEDS are available for Clarinets and Saxophones, and may save you another trip to The Starving Musician.
 
  • You MUST provide your Social Security Number to rent the instrument.
  • Three (3) month minimum rental no refund for early cancellations; you are still responsible for the other two (2) months' rent if you return the instrument early.
  • One (1) month's rent PLUS two (2) months' rent as a deposit is required to take the instrument home. 100% of your deposit will be refunded when you return the instrument, or 100% it can be applied to the purchase of the instrument.
  • You MUST have a Major Credit Card or Check Card with VISA/MASTERCARD logo to rent.
  • Co-signers with Credit Cards must be present to sign the contract.
  • This is a Rent-To-Own program. 60% of all ON-TIME rental payments can be applied to the purchase of the instrument.
  • If you do not choose the Repair & Replacement policy, you are completely responsible for any accidental damage or theft.
  • All repairs to our rental instruments must be done at OUR Repair Shop to be covered under the Repair & Replacement policy.
